Boston Marathon 2025
14 APRIL 2025 Congratulations to all the runners in the 2025 Boston Running Festival which included a Marathon, Half, 10km and a fun run for everyone!
We are of course referring to the Boston in Lincolnshire, which was founded in 1545, a few years before the other Boston which was founded in 1630 (and also holds a famous Marathon).
A few of the Outer Dowsing team joined over 2000 runners on the start line in Market Square Boston with a view of the marvellous St. Botolph’s Church Tower (locally known as “The Stump”). The route took them along narrow country lanes and through local villages before crossing the finish line at Boston College. Due to the famous Lincolnshire landscape, the Boston Marathon is the flattest marathon in the UK, which helped a few of the team achieve a personal best while for others they ran a longer race than ever before.
The Outer Dowsing team raised over £4400 for charity, with over £3100 going to Lincolnshire-based charities including: Lincolnshire Headway, Age UK Lincoln and South Lincolnshire, Sophie’s Journey, Lincolnshire NHS charity, Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust and Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance Charity.
Thanks to all the race organisers for putting on such a well organised and friendly event, and to the wonderful volunteers along the route for the support. We hope to see you again next year!
